I’ll leave it to the picture to show where all the fail comes in. It’s a weird beaver-tail shaped paddle of a short, fat swiss cheese scarf. If look at one end vs the other, you can visually see my skill improve. It’s almost like those old pictures of the spider web after they gave the spider drugs.

Hopefully next scarf will look significantly less retarded and MF will be happier to model it.

So this is my little scarf so far… It’s looking pretty wonky, but it’s my first bash at it. Don’t judge me.

A friend pointed out a new daily deal site that actually has an original concept. I’ll let you go read about how it’s different, but I have a feeling it’s going to really take off. We did gifts for the youngsters at MF’s house on Christmas eve, then skyped my folks from my house on Christmas morning. It was a bummer we couldn’t have mom and dad come down for the holidays, but I’m thankful for rad technology which made it feel like they were right there with us.

Now if I could only tear MF away from his new copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops to let me watch my new Twilight Trilogy.

I’ve always grown up being complimented on my smile. Although it looks nice enough, a closer examination into my mouth reveals the total shit show that my teeth have become over the years. Two teeth pulled, two on death’s door, crooked bottom row and a crown that needs replacing. Of course, all this equals big bucks and I am currently a person of small bucks so it’s all really out of the question. It’s been on my agenda to start looking at making a plan and working towards a fabulous, healthy mouth… tooth by expensive ass tooth. I’ve always envied all those people on TV shows who get to have a total mouth makeover and just go do it all at once and wake up one day with a perfect movie star smile. Yes, I have cried at the tooth reveals on Extreme Makeover.

So back to the braces.

I had two teeth pulled a few years ago. Both are towards the back of the right side of my mouth, one top and one bottom. The top one shows when I smile and it’s horribly embarrassing to me. That’s why you’ll always be looking at the left side of my face in ANY photograph you see of me. Always.

Mr. Dentist (who was lovely) said that those are usually the two teeth that they will pull in preparation for getting braces put on- so I’m already halfway there. He said it would be more cost effective and would correct all my bite issues and grinding. Tempting offer.

Drawbacks? Looking 13 for the last two years of my 20′s. What if MF dumps me and I have to try and be single at nearly 30 with braces? Can you still look sexy or am I doomed to 24 months of marmish nerdiness? I just see them being a total buzzkill and making my confidence do a nosedive. My instant gratification side wants me to just pony up for the bridge and be done with it. Mr. Dentist said it would just be putting a band-aid over my bigger issues, but it was my choice to make.

I’m definitely open to feedback here…

PS- after some googling… there are definitely a lot of people out there who think braces are sexy. And they have websites. Not what I’m going for, however.

I’ll kick things off by taking cue from a dear friend Matt, of MKInMotion.com. Today he revisited a post he made a few years ago called “6 things I wish you had” in reference to social media sites that he was hoping more friends would utilize. His list from 2007 was a great predictor of sites that continued to grow and gain popularity over the years. Case in point, Matt was a seriously early adopter to twitter, and was the person who turned me on to it. Three and half years and 3500+ tweets later, I’m still using it!

Anyway, here’s my list of things I wish YOU were using-

1. a BLOG. Obviously I love blogging, and a big part of that is the sense of community that comes along with it. I only wish more of the people I know in real life would blog.
2. Instagram- Okay, so this is only to people who have an iPhone (but really, if you don’t have an iPhone… c’mon. Get with it). Think of Instagram as Hipstamatic gone social. The photo interface is much more user friendly and creative, and you can add friends from facebook, twitter and your contact list.  I love this little app, and it would be infinitely more entertaining if more of my peeps used it.
3. Twitter- Tweet, people. It’s fun. I promise.
4. LivingSocial.com- While one might take this as a Groupon wanna-be, they’ve actually been around longer. It takes the daily deal concept and ties in social networking and and a sense of community. It’s like Yelp and Groupon had a baby. I’m not sure why I like this site as much as I do, but, well… I do.

I could post a few more things, but they’re mostly all iPhone apps. Maybe I’ll post about my favorite apps later. Gotta save some steam for the rest of the month.
