Here's to 4 generations of #strongwomen who raised me to know my worth and blazed a path of #feminism before the word even existed. My great grandmother who paid for her house in cash by selling bootlegged cigarettes to soldiers in WW2 Germany. My grandmother who defied 1940's convention and demanded a divorce from an abusive husband taking custody of her daughter and moving to America. My great aunt who left an abusive husband and homesteaded in alaska with the love of her life. My mom- who's strength, kindness and generosity knows no boundaries. And of course my sister, who is the other half of my heart outside of my body. Thank you to the women in my life, all of you!! Happy #internationalwomensday

Baby's first #facehugger

A certain someone will be 2 weeks old tomorrow! I know he's still in the sleepy newborn stage but he's a pretty easygoing little dude. I still haven't figured out being a normal productive person AND a mom, but I guess that comes with time? As of right now I just sleep in three hour chunks whenever he's sleeping until like noon and beg my sister to pick up takeout for me every night Max has been sidelined with a sinus infection, so I'm trying to keep them apart as much as I can… so my glorious nights of sleeping a lot with him taking the night shift have been temporarily suspended 😑 I feel bad I haven't been good at replying to texts or messages but I've read and appreciate all the kind words. I've just been in this little cocoon of baby and pee and diapers and takeout and love but I promise I'll emerge before too long

So little #AtreyuMcMillan has been earthside for about 11 days now. As much as it was my intention to not spam everyone with baby pictures, A) it's really the only thing going on in my world at the moment, and B) just LOOK at that face! We certainly made a cute little dude. Mom-ing has been a big adjustment, but Max has made it much easier. He's taken to his new role as dad like a champ and I have an entirely new respect not only for parents in general but especially those who have to do this on their own. This new baby stuff is HARD, man. Like REAL HARD. I even feel like I've gotten off a bit light with a relatively easy birth (as far as births go) and a baby who only fusses when he needs something. It's still like our whole world has been turned upside down, but then he fart-smiles at me and I'm like "oh, it's all worth it now". #breastfeeding is not going well, but I'm still trying my hardest. More on that later I suppose.
